History of AVMS

After months of planning, the Alabama Vector Management Society became a reality in 1990. Beginning with the  election of a Board of Directors, and culminating in the First Annual Meeting, the Society has continually grown since that inaugural year to become an organization actively involved in vector and public health pest education. The Society's membership consists of representatives from various municipal, state, federal and private agencies and industry who have an interest in public health pests and arthropod-borne diseases. Today, the Society has grown to over 200 members state wide.

The Society is incorporated as a non-profit educational and scientific organization and has a tax-exempt status with the IRS.
